Wikipedia describes Vampires as legendary creatures said to subsist by feeding on the life essence of living creatures, generally by drinking their blood. Although typically described as undead, some minor traditions believed in vampires that were living people.
Vampires on TV...
My first thoughts of Vampires on TV are The Adams Family (with that theme song that sticks in your brain) and The Munsters. They set the bar for the great shows that were to follow. Here are some big ones...

True Blood rocks and the best vampire movie is The Lost Boys. One of the guys I taught with loved that movie. He reminded me how much I loved the soundtrack in (yes) high school! I had to go out and get a copy.

There are some great vampire shows listed. I was also a fan of the Blood Ties tv show.

Morganville Vampire series
House of Night series
and I'm pretty sure Chloe Neill will be right up there soon as I read book 2. I loved book 1.
Okay, Ima have to learn you some good vampire movies. There's some redemption there with The Lost Boys but seeing as how you placed it second to the glitter pixies of Twilight, you have much to learn, my dear Elie.
My top 3 vampire books? The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova, Lost Souls by Poppo Z. Brite and Dracula by Bram Stoker. I'm a bit of a classicist with vampires.
My top 3 vampire books are Dead and Gone (the latest book from the Sookie Stackhouse series), Eclipse (from the Twilight Saga), and Let the Right One in by John Ajvide Lindqvist. My favorite vampire film is Interview with a Vampire.

My top three favorite Vampire books are, Twilight, Glass House (Morganville Vampires), and Vampire Academy.
I've sat down to do my vampires spotlight three times now. There's just too much. I think I'm going to do shapeshifters, then vamps. And I love the celeb vamps. Did you see the celeb zombies? Some of them were fantastic! Awesome.
OMG I love the Munsters. Now I'm in the mood to watch them.
My top three books would have to fall into the top three vampires series:
Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series (I love Bones and Cat)
LKH's Anita Blake series
And old school fave, Anne Rice's series. I still have a special place in my heart for Lestat

I have to admit that I haven't exactly jumped on the vampire bandwagon yet...The only vampire book I've read is Georgia Evans' Bloody Good. I really want to read The Historian though and I'm still debating about Twilight...

The only vampire books I've read are the Twilight series and Strange Angels. Not much to choose from. I would say Strange Angels was kind of a favorite but I wouldn't say that for the Twilight series.
