Kidz Korner (3)

This is a special post to help you share a special book with the little ones in your life. Some of these books would make great holiday gifts! They will be reviewed by myself and my two sweeties (5 and 2). Children's books can be expensive, so we will give you some ideas of books that are worth your money.

Merry Christmas, Splat by Rob Scotton

Recommended age range: 4-7
(Synopsis from Barnes & Noble)  It's the night before Christmas, and Splat wonders if he's been a good enough cat this year to deserve a really big present. Just to make sure, he offers some last-minute help to his mom and, in typical Splat fashion, he messes up completely! That night Splat stays awake hoping to see Santa Claus. But when Splat misses him, he's sure his Christmas is ruined—along with his hopes for a really big present. . . .

Everyone's favorite furry cat is back in a Christmas story perfect for any child anxiously awaiting Santa's arrival.

Our thoughts...We LOVED this book.  Let me start with the illustrations.  The pictures are colorful, whimsical, comical, and very entertaining.  There are so many details in the pictures and we enjoyed rereading the story and examining the pictures.  The storyline was adorable.  Splat deals with a concern many children are beginning to feel, "Was I good enough?".  As Splat tries to help out, he finds himself in some funny situations.

This book is perfect for children of all ages.  The text is easy to read, the pictures are enticing and the story is enjoyable with some special messages.  This would be a perfect addition to any child's Christmas  reading list.

Justin's Two Cents (my son always has his say)...My favorite part was when Splat got his big present.

Aw, so sweet. I have a two-year old son, and he did his first 'review' on mommy's blog last Sunday. Aren't they adorable when they read?
