Bottoms Up Reading Challenge

Bottoms Up
2010 Reading Challenge

As I look at my TBR stack(s), I can't help but notice the shiny ones at the bottom. You know which ones I mean, when you first got them they looked so exciting. But slowly, little by little they made their way to the bottom and can't seem to find their way back up.

The Bottoms Up Challenge is simple. Each month, take 2-3 titles off the bottom and read them. So that would be...let's see...12-36 books in a year's time. That should make a dent. If you would like to participate, leave your name in the comments or send me an email.  You can post the button and your goal if you are a blogger!

There will be prizes, such as $1 in the form of a GC for every book I read.  If I reach my goal, which is 3 off the bottom per month, someone could win a $36 GC.  Plus, at different times during the challenge year, I will be giving away some of the titles I conquer that I think you might like!

Happy Reading!

I have to send madd BUTTON LOVE to the talented Kenda at Lurv A La Mode for hookin' me up!

This is the challenge for me! My TBR hit 430 books yesterday. I need to have a reason to get to some that have been sitting around for quite a while. I'll be blogging about my progress on my blog -- http://inside-dog.blogspot.com/ My goal is to read two a month.

Kathy-430-wow! Glad you will be participating!

This is such a good idea! I think for my personal challenge, I'm going to take it a step further- pull a book off the bottom of my TBR pile and, if I can't manage to read it by the end of the month, just pass it on to a good home. I picked ten books off my TBR pile for the Fall into Reading Challenge and so far have only managed to read three of them- I think that means these other books may just not be as good a fit as I thought when I got them. Thanks for hosting this challenge!

Emily, that is a great idea! I think that is a good policy.

I have an insane amount of books I own and need to read, and my goal this year is to read 60% owned, at least (I love my library, but this is becoming a problem.)
So of course I am in.

This sounds like a really good challenge! At the moment, I'm not home, so I've only got a few books with me. Can I join in with the challenge later on?

It sounds like such a good idea! I hope you have fun doing it.

I'd like to join, too! My TBR is getting out of control (according to my calculations, I'm at about 320 now, but I haven't added the latest books I received for Christmas, lol). I have been blogging very little in the past few months due to insane workload - but I think I can post a monthly recap with books read for this challenge.

I'll get back to you with an official sign-up post when I make a tentative list.

Velvet and LibraryMal, glad you decided to join up. I will send you an email for your interview questions.

Definitely count me in. I've been playing around with getting all my reviews in one place on a blog just for me and my TBR pile has multiplied like rabbits. Well into a thousand. I manage to send out 6 to 10 books a month but have been getting in 20 to 30 so it has taken over my life.

Count me in for this!

I've got about 40 books so far in my TBR pile (which is growing larger and larger by the day), and if I can't finish some of these, I think I might start giving them away to other people.

2-3 a month sounds reasonable, though the book reviews may be a bit slow just because I'm usually bogged down with course work.

Is it too late to join? My TBR is sad, sad, sad and I do feel bad, bad, bad for all those buried books!

It is never too late to join! Welcome new readers. I have not been reading off the bottom as much as I would like. In the mean time, my pile keeps growing!

What a fantastic idea.
Can the books we read from this challenge, also be used toward other challenges? If so, then I'm in:-)
