Grab your aqua-net, we are joined today by the comical Dakota Cassidy, the author of The Accidental Romance series.
1. For any new readers, could you tell us about your Accidental Romance series?
DC: The Accidentals is based on heroines who've been accidentally turned into a paranormal creature--or as I like to call it, a paranormal-palooza of were-whatevers. LOL. The books began with three women, all friends, who sold cosmetics together in a Mary-Kay-like setting, and each had accidental occurrences with some form of shapeshifter. Now it's branched out to one of the heroine's sisters :) And it's crazy. The whole lot of books is just my imagination and my big mouth gone amok :)
2. What sort of adventure are we in for in your latest book Accidentally Demonic?
DC: The fourth book's based on Casey Schwartz, she's Wanda's, the third heroine's sister, and she's had a bit of a mishap in a bar while babysitting her twin Paris-Hilton-like charges. Casey's rather quiet compared to the other three women, and she's gonna need serious help adjusting to her new paranormal status. So I figured, who better than Marty, Nina and Wanda to aide and abet? LOL. And if you've read this series, you surely know, mayhem, madness, bad language and craziness shall ensue. Plus, there's a bunch of secrets and a hot vampire who was once a viking and has a major secret. Oh, and he's hot for Casey :)
3. You wear a lot of hats (scratch that) tiaras. Is it hard to change gears between your different series?
DC: You know, I think that's just the way my brain works. I'm always in the middle of one project, and I have 900 different ideas going on in my brain for 900 different more books. I'm happiest being able to skip from genre to genre because it allows me to delve into different situations. I'm crazy grateful that I'm able to write three different series in a year because it feeds my need for constant growth and variety and it does allow me to keep my ever whirling brain properly maintained :)
4, In your Accidental series, we have met Marty, Nina, Wanda, and now Casey. Which of of these heroines do you identify with the most and why?
DC: Hmmm, I get asked that a lot, and typically, when people meet me, they think I sound just like my books. Which should so scare you. LOL. I think I'm a combination of them all. I'm like Marty in that I love clothes and makeup and girlie crap. I'm a lot like Nina because I have a horrifying potty mouth. I think a lot like her, I just don't say it out loud. I'm much like Wanda in that I'm very diplomatic when need be, but I cry over a booze commercial given the op, and Casey is very organized, and I'm a little OCD about organizational type stuff.
5. Are you working on any other projects you would like to share with us?
DC: Right now I'm almost finished with book two of my contemp series titled Suck It Up, Princess. I'm so stoked about these books! They're based on ex-trophy wives who've been left with nothing and have to start all over again--these particular three women do it in their mother's/aunt's/father's retirement village where they have to learn to fend for themselves, earn their own money, clip coupons, and give up their botox injections. Snort. In the process, they find lurve and all it's second time around complications :)
6. A man in a long trench coat approaches you on the street. He whips open his jacket and you see...VIALS. He is selling magic potions for health, love, beauty, wealth, anything you desire. Which potion do you take?
DC: Um, if I offer, you know, ahem... my services, you think I can wing all four of those things? No, wait. I'm old. Forget I said that. He'd turn me down slicker 'n snot. I'd probably choose health. I know, I know. You all thought I'd chose beauty-I did, too, until I realized I could end up beautiful and DEAD. Tee hee :)
LOL 7. DING, DING! You just won dinner with any fictional character from literature or film, past or present. Who will you be dining with?
DC: Zach Levi from Chuck. I know you all expected me to say something deep like Ernest Hemingway, right? LOL. I'm really stumped about this one, but I can tell you, I'm totally into Chuck these days and he comes to mind because the show's finally back on as I write my responses. Plus, he's uber-cute, and uber-geeky. Big, girly sigh :)
8. Lastly, what is one thing readers would be shocked to learn about you?
DC: I'm really a man? No. I joke. Um, hmmmmm... Oh, I know! I don't love chocolate. *Ducking*! Quit throwing things. LOLLOL. I'm not a big fan of desserts and sweets. I like them, but I probably only eat them like twice a year...
Seriously, no chocolate. You have another vise you are not telling us. Hmmm. Dakota, thanks for taking the time to share with us. Congratulations on your success!
